ya... karena tulisan ini sifatnya seperti real case study, yang
menceritakan kisah 2 pemuda India berhasil mendapatkan 12 miliar rupiah
($800k) lebih dalam waktu hanya 2 bulan.

Kok bisa? Singkatnya mas² India tadi membangun sebuah website, yang kontennya adalah produk² dari Amazon, dan seperti kita tahu, Amazon menawarkan program afiliasi. Sistem afiliasi inilah yang dijadikan ladang uang bagi mas² India tadi.
Salah satu contoh konten yang ada di website mereka, contohnya,
10 rekomendasi laptop untuk orang tua.
Tapi ini sifatnya serba otomatis ya..., mereka berdua membuat tools (programming) untuk mengambil dan menyajikan ulang data dari Amazon. Mereka mengaku dalam sehari bisa posting sebanyak 6.000 konten per hari.

Dalam channel youtubenya, mas Matt Diggity (video ada di bawah), melakukan wawancara dengan 2 orang webmaster asal India yang berhasil memanfaatkan loop hole Google untuk meraih keuntungan dalam waktu yang relatif sangat singkat. Bagaimana kisahnya? Berikut ini saya coba tulis poin² penting dari wawancara tersebut.
Tentang Domain yang Dipakai
Domain yang dipakai untuk generate uang sebanyak ini adalah
www.conch-house.com. Saat tulisan ini dibuat, web nya udah ndak
bisa diakses, tapi index masih ada di Google
(site:conch-house.com). Domain ini dibeli dengan harga kurang
lebih $5.000. Kok mahal? Ya karena ini adalah aged domain (bukan
expired domain ya...).
Siapa bilang domain yang mengandung "-" ndak bagus??? hehehe....
Domain aged adalah domain yang masih aktif punya index di Google tapi tidak diperpanjang oleh si empunya. Yang membuat mahal lagi adalah backlink profile dari domain ini. Menurut mereka, domain ini memiliki Domain Rating kurang lebih 32 ketika dibeli. Saat ini, DR dari domain ini ada di angka 40.
Domain ini sebenarnya tidak satu niche, dulunya adalah website travel, tidak ada kaitan sama sekali dengan yang mereka lakukan, yakni adalah web affiliate amazon. Namun, SEO itu memang kadang lebih ke art dan luck, meski tidak satu niche, nyatanya bisa dominasi di Google.
Apa Teknik yang Dipakai?
Membuat Tools untuk Scrape dari Amazon
Mereka mengaku membuat tools untuk melakukan scraping dari Amazon, kemudian data hasil scrape tersebut disajikan ulang dengan sajian yang SEO friendly, dari sisi search engine dan juga dari sisi manusia lebih mudah dan meyakinkan. Mereka kemudian mengambil data keyword dari ahrefs (mengambil data keyword yang masuk ke Amazon). Mereka mengaku mendapat 1 juta keywords dari Amazon.
Data keyword ini kemudian di inject ke website mereka. Asumsi saya ini seperti
dibuatkan page khusus untuk setiap keyword nya. Dan memang benar, silakan
telusuri jejaknya dengan mengetikkan site:conch-house.com di
Google.
Misalnya conch-house.com/best-laptop-for-elderly/. Hasilnya
adalah search result dari hasil scrape Amazon, ketika ada yang klik, mereka
inject link affiliate dan ketika terjadi transaksi, cuan lah si webmaster.
Amazon juga dapat untung dari penjualan sih... jadi
win win solution lah....
Mereka juga mengaku tidak terlalu pusing dengan Google Search Console dkk, mereka membiarkan crawler datang secara alami aja... Mereka yakin kalau ada sekian banyak halaman, pasti mesin telusur akan datang lagi dan datang lagi...
Dan benar saja, traffic datang dan seperti tidak ada puncaknya, sampai kemudian Google melakukan manual penalty untuk menghentikan web ini. Web ini sempat di-banned (manual penalty) oleh Google tapi berhasil melakukan appeal dalam 3-4 hari.
Untuk mengelola traffic sebesar itu, mereka mengaku menyewa server dengan biaya sampai $2.500 per bulan, masih worth it lah dibanding yang didapat...
Lesson Learned?
Aged Domain
Untuk tujuan tertentu, memang aged domain masih powerful untuk mendaki puncak di hasil pencarian. Mereka mengaku masih investasi untuk membeli aged domain untuk dipakai di proyek mereka selanjutnya. Mereka juga bilang kalau tools ini masih mereka kembangkan sampai sekarang.
Bazzilion Traffic
Kenapa web ini bisa dengan mudah nangkring di hasil pencarian? Menurut saya mereka bermain di long tail keyword, yang mana persaingan tidak terlalu tinggi.
Berapa jumlah index di Google?
Mereka mengaku mendapat sekitar 300.000 index di Google.
Bisakah ditiru?
Sebenarnya kalau di Indonesia, terutama kalangan pecinta AGC (auto generated content), teknik seperti ini bukanlah hal baru. Cuma data saja yang membedakan, kalau di Indonesia, dulu... umumnya menggunakan data dari mesin telusur untuk disajikan lagi ke mesin telusur. Kalau di era AI seperti sekarang mungkin sudah beda lagi yaaa...
Masalah replikasi, seperti yang disampaikan di atas, hal seperti ini tidak bisa 100% ditiru, dengan teknik yang persis sama pun hasilnya bisa berbeda. Dan mereka berdua mengakui hal tersebut, mereka mencoba eksperimen lagi dengan 10 domain dan hasilnya zonk semua. Jadi memang ada faktor luck juga.

Masalah legalitas dan apakah ini masuk unsur blackhat atau tidak, saya tidak bisa menghakimi terlalu jauh, tapi yang jelas saya lebih suka menamai teknik-teknik seperti ini dengan teknik jalur cepat. hahaha....
